COVID-19: Update on cricket nets and pre-season

Year: 2020

We are receiving a lot of queries about the effect of Coronavirus on cricket this year. So far, no guidance has been issued indicating that any of our games are likely to be called off, and given that we play a non-contact summer sport in which 22 players are spread out across a large outdoors area we hope that we will be unaffected.Nonetheless, we need to be aware of the issues and are monitoring the position carefully. If we receive further directions from the Leagues, County or the ECB we will pass that on.As it stands all scheduled fixtures/events will go ahead as planned unless we are directed otherwise. The welfare of our players, coaches, officials, age group teams and families is obviously at the forefront of our concerns.

For reference the GOV.uk information is being updated daily, with the latest information being available here: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-i... In the meantime, please do follow the widely-publicised advice to limit the spread of the virus - regular proper hand-washing, sneeze or cough into a tissue or your sleeve and, if you have symptoms, self-isolate for 7 days. Please actively encourage your friends, family and children to be extra careful in their hygiene.

Nets are now underway for the men's teams and the U10s and above age-groups. Please do not spit-shine balls - there is no particular evidence that this will spread the disease, but it is likely to upset other people around you. In the circumstances we will not be taking any absence from nets into account for selection.

As always should you have any questions or concerns please do contact us directly.
