News from the pavilion - 26th Febraury 2014
02 Mar
As I drive twixt Windsor and Bray, my sole mission to open the oasis otherwise known as the Pavilion to help the members slake their thirsts, today I think it is the type of evening where a brisk stroll rewarded by the warming beaker just about hits the nail on the head.
The late winter sun, the budding spring flowers (shining through several inches of water), the promise of summer...it all seems to be there.
Aside from the pleasant surroundings, stunning view, fine selection of beers, wines, spirits and cordials, and solicitous staff there is the added attraction of Galatasaray Vs Chelsea in the Champions League, where we can only hope that the men from west London can salvage some English pride in Europe (there should be at LEAST two English men playing!). We're open from 17:30 and I will be watching if you wish to join me.
On Friday we have our second Quiz Night which will begin at circa 19:30 so why not get a team together, or come on the night and make up a team and stun us with your knowledge. We will be open from 17:30 if you need some special medicine in preparation for this festival of intellect and we will be serving bar food from 18:00-21:00. It's meant to be a fun night, there's no charge to join in and there will be a prize for the winners.
It's a 6 nations rest weekend, which is a bit of a bore, but I guess life goes on and there will doubtless be Association Football to keep us televisually amused whilst the Hockey Club goes about its fixture list and the Cricket club has it's first indoor nets session (see I told you the summer is in sight...you can almost smell the linseed oil, well that is if anybody used it anymore!).
Tuesday the 4th is our Spring (almost) trip to the Rebellion Brewery at Marlow. We've done two so far and they have been great fun. Basically, what happens is that we organise travel there and back from the Pavilion, leaving circa 18:30 and coming back for about 22:00. These trips are open to all members of all hues, whether you push a ball with a stick, hit a ball with a bat, kick a ball, enjoy watching any kind of sport or in fact hate sport but just like being sociable. It costs a tenner to cover travel, but beer at the brewery is gratis. We are open from 17:30 if you want to 'warm up' first (after all we are a sports club and we should make sure we are nice and warm before participating!) and the bar will open afterwards if the group wish to have a night cap or two (warm down!). If you're coming I need to know ASAP and the best thing to do is text me (07768736952) or come into the bar and tell me, so that I can order the transport.
The Jazz Night is nearly sold out so if you're coming you need to book as soon as possible.
That's about it for now.
We hope to see you soon.
Tony & Max
