Under 13's complete the treble

Maidenhead & Bray U13's completed their outstanding season on Sunday at North Maidenhead when they won their Berkshire League Final encounter against Kidmore End to go alongside their earlier triumphs in the County Cup and Julian Cup.

Bray approached the final in determined mood having lost finals in this competition in the previous 2 seasons and were not daunted when they lost the toss and were put into bat by their opponents. The Kidmore End bowlers bowled a tidy line and length in the initial overs as the Bray openers (Sachin Moudgil and Tom Harrison) played themselves in. However this soon changed as Moudgil (23) began to attack the bowling and took the scoring rate above 6 runs per over when he was caught in the 7th over with the score on 44. With Tom Harrison (32 Retired) playing the sheet anchor role to perfection at one end, Brett Herron came to the crease and soon raced to 33 Retired. Although Jamie Odell (1) was stumped as he sought to keep the scoring rate up good knocks at the end from Alex Hess (17) Vishal Gossain (7 not out) and Oscar Beardmore-Gray (9 not out) saw Bray reach a formidable score of 143 for 3 on completion of 20 overs.

The Treble Winning Side

Kidmore End knew they needed to get off to a fast start and this they duly did reaching 20 with one ball left of the 2nd over before they lost their 1st wicket to a run out. This proved to be an important moment as none of the subsequent batsmen were able to score at much more than 4 runs an over so the outcome was never in doubt from an early stage. Bray were indebted to tidy bowling spells in mid innings from Vishal Gossain (1 for 17 from his 4 overs) and Brett Herron (1 for 16 from his 4). Also with Sachin Moudgil and Oscar Beardmore-Gray claiming a wicket each, together with a run out, the Kidmore End reply finished on 104 for 6 after 20 overs leaving Bray winners by the comfortable margin of 39 runs.
