New Nets Opening by Sir Michael Parkinson
Sir Michael Parkinson will be 'opening' the new nets and dedicating them to George Gittens, and also dedicating a new bench to Martin Wesson on Saturday week, June 27th staring at 6.30pm.
Some of you players and colts will be aware of one or both of these guys, both of whom died suddenly within a week of each other.
George was a first rate cricket coach, working with M & BCC and Berkshire CC colts since the early '90s; he was also a tennis coach in Slough. He was universally respected and liked by colts and parents, and has done more than any other cricket coach towards the successes that M & BCC colts in particular have had in recent years.
Martin was a stalwart at the bar in all seasons, and previously also a cricket team player for the Club. He was also one of the 'Dirty Dozen' who supported M & BCC financially during some of the 'leaner' periods in the last 30 years; if they had not provided such financial support when they did, M & BCC would probably not exist now in its present form and size.
Please come along and support, what will be a great event.
