MBCCThird XI V's Datchet 3 26/07/2008

Winning the toss M&B Skipper Saj Tariq opted to bat first on a good batting track.
M&B got off to a steady start, with the openers putting up 44 within the first 10 overs, Riasat Hussain being the more aggressive for his (42).
However the Datchet bowlers persisted and a bowling change brought immediate results, and soon Bray were 51 for 2. Exquisite and sensible play by Nick Clements enabled Syed Bokari to launch his offensive. Syed smashed 7 fours and 3 sixes for his 51 from 6 overs. This momentum was not to last, and Datchet again struck back with two quick wickets. This left the young colts, James Brooks and Bhavin Vaja to rebuild, and rebuild is what they did.

Both batsmen started off at a frantic pace, James in particular blasting the ball to all parts of the ground and Bray were flying at 8 an over. In the 40th over Bray were on a impressive 257 - 6. Bhavin departed for 36 and was replaced by Milan Pandya, who continued the run rate. Milan and James both took the total to 300 from 48 overs which brought the declaration from skipper Saj.

It was a big total for Datchet to chase and they did not have a good start losing three early wickets. Doug Seymour bowling with pace and accuracy ( 10-28-3). He was well supported by Matthew Armstrong, with his dependable line and length (8-46-3). Datchet were never really in the game and with tight fielding, accurate bowling and tidy work behind the stumps from James Brooks, Datchet were all out for 146 after 32 overs giving Bray 25 points and leaving them one point adrift from Harefield who are top of division 7b.
