MBCC Under13's Julian Cup V's N Maidenhead Final 09/07/2007 (Cookham Dean)

Maidenhead & Bray U13's Julian Cup team triumphed last night in a very polished display of good cricket at Cookham Dean.

Having lost the toss Maidenhead & Bray were put into bat by the N Maidenhead skipper, Sanjay Avert. LD Basson(23) and Tom Noakes(17) put together a good partnership of 43 runs off 7 overs to get Bray off to a solid start. Once opener Tom Noakes was run out due to a very good direct throw at the stumps with the score on 43, Bray suffered another 2 run outs due to further good N Maidenhead fielding. At 54-5 Bray looked in trouble until Simon Wykes(15) and William O Shea(10) steadied the innings to ensure Bray batted through all 16 over's and finished with a respectable 98 for 8 wickets.

N Maidenhead had a disastrous start when one of their openers was bowled by Cameron M'Crystal first ball.

Avert was next in and together with the N Maidenhead skipper, Sanjay put a good partnership of 32 together with Avert hitting some powerful shots. However the Bray bowlers tightened the screws and once Avert was brilliantly caught on the square leg boundary by sub Jamie O Dell, the N Maidenhead innings faltered. Bray fielded very well and resulted in 2 run outs to get rid of the top order.

Opening bowler Cameron M'Crystal finished with excellent figures of 4 overs, 1 for 10 runs and then Alkesh Vaja carried on with figures of 4 overs 2 for 12 runs. Avi Gossain also supported very well with figures of 4 overs, 2 maidens, 0 for 3 runs. N Maidenhead finished on 54 for 7 wickets in their 16 overs to give Maidenhead & Bray U13's victory by 44 runs.
