MBCC Under 13's Spitfires Versus White Waltham 18/06/2008
Spitfires on song
Spitfires beat White Waltham away by 6 wickets
The U13 Spitfires showed their true potential last night on a beautiful evening at White Waltham's picturesque ground.
After winning the toss and choosing to field first the Spitfires looked purposeful from the start. The ground fielding and catching were impressive and supported a good all round bowling performance. Adam Barrett and Oliver Saunders bowled particularly well. Jack Page and then Atif Hussain did well behind the stumps. White Waltham were restricted to 98 for 5 off their 20 overs.
After losing Atif very early Oliver Saunders and Oscar Beardmore-Gray shared a partnership of 52 playing sensibly and keeping up with the required run rate. When Oliver was out for 19 Oscar played a captain's role and stayed at the crease until the game was all but won, retiring on 25. Contributions from Adam Barratt, Dylan Patel, Ben Nichols and Daniel Ahmed saw the Spitfires home with three overs to spare.
Everyone played their part, including Akshay Chawla, Connor Wisely and Lewis McLellan. Our thanks to Dave Patten and the White Waltham team for their hospitality and a competitive match.
