MBCC Under 13's Hurricanes Versus Reading 26/06/2008

Last Friday, Maidenhead & Bray Under 13 Hurricanes completed a successful League campaign with an 8 wicket win over Reading Lions, ensuring an unbeaten record and qualification for the knock-out stages.

However, Bray were made to work hard by a committed Reading team who gave absolutely nothing away and who, for much of the Bray innings, looked the more likely winners. Reading batted first and reached 64 for 7 off their 20 overs, constrained by tight bowling from Karan Soni and Simon Wykes in particular. The slowish outfield also made boundaries hard to come by.

In reply, Bray were soon in trouble against some high class Reading bowling, losing both openers with only 12 on the board. However Wykes and Vishal Gossain overcame a sticky start to gain in assurance and, once they had found their touch in difficult light, they batted beautifully. Ultimately, they put together an excellent partnership
of 53 to take Bray to 65 for 2 and complete the victory in the 19th over.
