MBCC Third XI V's Datchet 3 24/05/2008
After a convincing start to the season the past 2 weeks, Maidenhead & Bray 3rd XI lined themselves up for Datchet 3rd XI.
The toss was won by Bray and they elected to bat on a good track. The Datchet opening bowlers bowled well and made life difficult for the Bray openers to score. However after the first 8 overs tiredness had set in and that's when the Bray openers loosened their shoulders and started to play classic drives.
The Bray opening pair, Alex Cheema (77), who scored his second half century in as many weeks and Mohak Malhotra (129), who secured his maiden club century, made up for a slow start and raced to a 179 opening stand in 37 overs, despatching the Datchet bowlers for 33 boundaries between them. The scene was set for Bray to post a sizeable total. Contributions from Awais Bhatti, Naeem Shazad and Chris King took the Bray total to 272 in 52 overs.
Skipper Saj Tariq was very comfortable at the half way mark. Datchet never really got into the game due to superb restrictive bowling from Naeem Shazad (4 -51 from 11 overs) who was well supported by Saj Tariq and Riasat Hussain. Most outstanding was fielder Milan Pandya. The ball seemed to follow him in the field and he took five excellent catches.
Datchet were all out for 177 from 32 overs.
M&BCC 3XI continue to sit at the top of Division 7b after 3 wins out of 3.
