MBCC Third XI V's Amersham 3 12/05/2007

Bray Third's, being captained for the first time by Saj Tariq took on a strong Amersham side who finished top three in the league last year. Playing away and losing the toss, Bray were asked to bat. Conditions were damp and overcast. Pete Lamb and Ateek Akhtar took on the new ball and were immediately into their stride frustrating the bowlers putting on a partnership of 30 in very difficult batting conditions. However, Amersham soon struck and Pete was walking back to the pavilion. This gave Amersham the lift they needed and soon Pete was joined by Naeem (LBW 0), and Barry Wykes who decided to give catching practice to the bowler. The wickets thumbling from the same end to the same bowler. Zubair Din and Ishfaq Namaz struck some resistance in the middle order, and restored some pride. Ishfaq in devastating form hitting to all parts of the ground ( those who know Ishfaq know which part of the ground!) for his 40 not out (6 fours and 1 six) and Zubair (14) supporting him well. After Zubair parted with a soft dismissal caught behind, Rio decided it was too cold to play and joined him back in the changing rooms. Shoukat Khan, joined Ishfaq for a quick fire 13, when the heavens opened and the players rushed to a much needed cup of PG tips! After examining the pitch, it was decided to call it a day and enjoy the rest of the afternoon, with both teams sharing 7 points.
