MBCC Second XI V's Datchet 2 12/05/2007

The first league game of the season was a nervy affair played out in varying weather conditions. It was an important toss to win, and when Datchet won the toss and put the home side in a solid start was in order. Matt Taylor (36) put on 60 for the 1st wicket with Khalim Abassi before falling, and with wickets falling steadily it was only until John Turner and Abassi showed some good application and patient batting that a good total seemed likely. Abassi finishing with 73 and Turner with 64 in a final total of 218 for 7 off 44 overs. The pick of the Datchet bowlers was Jackson who finished with figures of 3/64.

In reply Datchet were doing their best to stay close to the required run rate of 5, but it was the partnership between Jones (66) and Jackson (74*) which were the foundations for an exciting run chase in the closing gloom. Datchet reached their target with 11 balls to spare and with 5 wickets remaining.
