A Bad Toss to Lose

Having lost the toss and being put in to bat on a drying wicket with heavy cloud cover and only 10 men it was always going to be a difficult game. Slumping to 35 for five after 17 overs a after a accurate spell from the Basingstoke openers whaich was swinging wildly and jagging off the pitch a mini revival featuring Asad Zaman 42 not out, Neil Head-Rapson 14 and a lively 11 off 12 deliveries from young A. Vaja brought the score to 105 all out after 36 overs. It was never going to be an easy total to defend however some tight bowling and disciplined fielding brought hope when a double strike by Karen Kumar (18-3 off 8 overs) in the 24th over brought some hope with the opposition on 61 for five and looking to have a long tail. However with no pressure on them the picked off the singles to bring them home after 37 overs . Asad Zaman (16-2 off 5 overs) also bowled well Matt Botha (12-0 off 7 Overs)and J. Zaman (18-0 off 8 overs) also again bowled tidily with no luck.

Man of the Match: A. Zaman
