MBBC Under13's V's Windsor 08/06/2007

A 6 off the final ball of the innings secured a thrilling win for Maidenhead & Bray Under 13 Spitfires against local rivals, Windsor Dragons. Set 108 to win in fading light, Henry Story and William Brockwell got Bray off to a solid start and a typically robust 29 from Cameron Jacobsen continued the momentum. However, at the start of the final over, Bray still required an unlikely 16 runs to win. Monty Bampfield hit the first ball for 6 but then had to retire, having scored 33. With the tension mounting, Henry Parker finally sealed the dramatic win with a 4 and a 6 off the final two balls.

Earlier, Windsor had batted well to post 107 for 8, with Jamie Tuthill, Arjan Ghattaura and Sam Dadd all making good runs. The wickets were evenly shared amongst the Bray bowlers, with Atif Hussain and Dylan Patel putting in particularly pleasing spells.

The win means that the Spitfires have now won three matches on the trot and keeps alive their hopes of making the quarter-finals.
