The traditional season curtain raiser between these 2 clubs gave an interesting insight into what may lie ahead in the season to come. In a dress rehearsal for the opening league game against each other next weekend it was more a case jockeying for position and sizing each other up than anything else. M & Bs skipper Charlie Jacobsen started the season well with losing the toss and Datchet electing to bat.

The first league game of the season was a nervy affair played out in varying weather conditions. It was an important toss to win, and when Datchet won the toss and put the home side in a solid start was in order.

With the midweek weather causing havoc with pitch preparations it was always going to be an important toss to win, and running with his early season luck with matters M&B skipper Charlie Jacobsen lost the first battle of the day.

A combination of loosing the toss for the third week on the trot and a freak accident leaving one player sitting out the game in the local A & E didn't help M & B's cause in search of their first league win of the season. However an opening stand of 79 between G.Khan (32) and K.Abassi (41) put the Bray side into a strong position only then to loose five wickets for five runs to turn the game on it's head.

Winning the toss for the first time this season and inserting Marlow 2's in on a slow pitch was the catalysis for the first league win of the season.

A controlled opening spell by A.Khan (2 for 46) and M.Armstrong (1 for 35) and some outstanding ground fielding left Marlow 2's below the 100 mark at the halfway stage.
