Code of conduct for Club officials, coaches and volunteers
We insist on good ethical conduct and good practice throughout the Club. All Club officials, coaches and volunteers must follow these guidelines:
- Consider the well-being and safety of participants before the development of performance.
- Develop an appropriate working relationship with participants, based on mutual trust and respect.
- Make sure all activities are appropriate to the age, ability and experience of those taking part.
- Be consistent and fair in all you do, when responsible for the children of others, and promote the positive aspects of the sport (e.g. fair play).
- Follow all guidelines laid down by the national governing body and the Club.
- Display consistently high standards of behaviour and appearance.
- Ensure that if you are providing transport for children to or from a cricket event, you always have the permission of the relevant parents/guardians, and that you always take more than one child unless that child is your own.
- Hold the appropriate, valid qualifications and insurance cover.
- Never exert undue influence over participants to obtain personal benefit or reward.
- Never condone rule violations or rough play.
- Never condone the consumption of alcoholic drinks by those who are under the legal age, and never condone the use by anyone of other prohibited substances.
- If you think that a child is being unfairly treated, bullied, or abused, discuss the matter with one of the Child Protection Officers.
Club Members are expected also to co-operate in the Code of Conduct.
