MBCC First XI V's Datchet 31/05/2008

Maidenhead & Bray 1st XI went to Datchet confident following their victory over Windsor the week before. However it was obvious looking at the pitch before the start of the game that winning the toss was going to be instrumental in the result.

Bray lost the toss and were promptly asked to bat. Wickets fell steadily with some accurate bowling by Dick and Lambert. The Bray batting apart from a great knock of 63 from Faisel Choudhary made the wicket look harder than it really was. Dick finished with excellent figures of 5-51 off 17 overs as Bray struggled to 156 all out.

The wicket as expected got easier as it dried out but the Bray bowlers didn’t manage to exert the pressure required to cause too much trouble to the Datchet batsmen. A couple of early break-throughs were soon forgotten as Tim Aldis (76 Not Out) and fellow batsmen A. Jones (50 Not Out) scored the required runs in just under 33 overs. Salman Choudhary was the pick of the bowlers with 12 overs , 4 maidens 1 wicket for 30 runs.

Datchet won by 8 wickets and Bray suffered their first defeat of the season.
