Latest heap of dross
Morning all
0700 Monday - up all night again - it's those two dropped catches at Thatcham on Saturday - been unable to sleep since. No, it's another overnight shift. It's been a busy one, but I tell you what, in those odd idle moments, when the guard drops and the mind wanders, there's nothing like a leisurely read of the Thames Valley League website. Good, mindless fun, seeing how Newbury II's got on in Div 5b, discovering if Kidmore End 3's finally got off the mark (they didn't). Felt sorry for that NPL Teddington bloke called Laghari on Saturday, scoring 158 in his side's 218 all out against North Maids in Div I. I know exactly how he feels.
Almost the 'royal flush' on Saturday - trust the I's to let us down. No, bad luck boys - and it's good to see Coyney taking a real grip on affairs in the wake of that first defeat of the season. He's taken a good look at the lie of the land - and he's taking action. Now there have been lots of murmurs surrounding the IV's. Some of the hype is admittedly, faintly ridiculous. Samir's cavaliers aren't the strongest side in the club. But Coyney's still worried and he can see four or five years down the line that those battling youngsters (and those half-baked old lags) could be breathing down his neck, having long left the II's and III's trailing in their wake. So little Jimmy's half-inching the star bowler for the I's (maybe it's just a penchant for boys called 'Vish'?) - Sidders could soon follow - and he's put up Wildthang to do a bit of plundering for the II's. Question is, who are the IV's getting in return? Dobbo? Dan Dan? Squashie? Even you, Wildthang? Come on, let's face facts Tommy, you've been found out this season, punching a fair bit above your weight. Venture down to ‘Fours Country’, so the Brooks boys can take you under their wing - Tony can show you how to hit a ball like a man - James might deign to pass on a tip ot two about glovework.
Other matters: the indestructible Reaper in injury shock; and Mase fails to take wicket – though it transpires that the oppo weren’t a glorified under-13’s side, so that’s no real surprise. Stats man – alongside batting and bowling averages and that sort of thing, would it be possible to do a breakdown on the age of David’s victims? I’d wager few have seen the business end of a razor.
Right, that's it. I'm off. And the good news for you shower is that I'm on holiday for the next eight days so you won't have to suffer my inane prattle this coming weekend.
Respect
Cuddles
